Our Impact
The following examples of MCC’s effective work around the world are what motivates us to undertake projects that generate even more resources for this higher purpose.
Building a Brighter Future for Students in Uganda
The MCC and HyLand partnership is helping transform classrooms in the Kyangwali Refugee Settlement into safe spaces for children to learn and grow in one of Uganda’s largest and oldest refugee communities
Obstacles in settlements make quality education out of reach.
- There is one teacher for every 192 students—nearly four times the national standard.
- More than 90% of refugee children in lower primary grades cannot read at their grade level—or at all.
Both MCC and HyLand are helping open the door to a quality education for many students in Uganda.
Global Aid
$100,000 is able to fund initiatives in South Sudan, Nigeria, and Kenya.
Clean Water
$300,000 investment can help bring clean water for life to over 13,000 people.
World Hunger
7.4 million people don’t have sufficient and safe access to food.
Children are receiving mental health support in a safe space.
- 150 children participated in talk therapy, helping them to process trauma and build their resilience.
- 7,661 community members attended information sessions on mental health, learning how to support themselves and their children.
Teachers are seeing noticeable changes. Students who were once withdrawn and disengaged are now more expressive and making connections with their peers. Educators are benefitting as well, as they are now equipped with new ways to manage stress and support the students. In early 2025, HyLand and MCC staff visited projects in Uganda and were able to see the impact of the partnership firsthand.
